French onion mix with high protein

Delicious French onion with high protein, which were made healthier with protein -rich cottage cheese, caramelized onions and fresh herbs so that the perfect dip is served with chips, vegetables and crackers!

It is almost time for the Super Bowl and one of our favorite matchdays (or ANY Day) Snacks is a French onion! This protein -packed dip is full of taste, but with a healthy turn! Typical French onion dip recipes require acidic cream or cream cheese and boring onion soup mixed packages bought in the shop. We use cottage cheese and Greek yogurt instead of sour cream and caramelizing fresh chopped onions to get a maximum taste!

Ingredients will need

  • cottage cheese – This serves as the basis of the dips and packs so much protein! I used full milk cottage cheese.
  • Greek yogurt -Thies adds a creamy texture and even more protein, but they could also use instead of the yogurt fat decree or mayonnaise.
  • butter – This is used to caramelize the onions, but they could also use olive oil instead of butter.
  • Onion – You need 2 large sweet white onions or 3 to 4 small to medium yellow onions.
  • White wine vinegar – This is used to expose the pan, while the onions loosen all delicious tanned pieces from the underside of the pan!
  • Beef base – This gives this dip taste and beautiful color (I used better as a bouillon beef base).

  • Spices – A combination of onion powder, garlic powder, kosher salt and black pepper. You can also make this spicy by adding some Cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.

How to do French onion bip

  1. Caramelize the onions. Melt the butter in medium pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and reduce the heat to medium low. Cook the onions and occasionally stir for 10 minutes until they are soft. Add salt and pepper to taste and cook the onions on for 20 to 25 minutes and occasionally pay attention to until the onions are deep until golden brown and very caramelized. Add the white wine vinegar and continue to cook for 5 minutes and then take off the stove.
  2. Mix the ingredients. In a mixer or a kitchen machine, add the cottage cheese, the Greek yogurt, the beef base, the Worcestershire, the onion powder, the salt and pepper and mix them up until they are completely mixed and super creamy.
  3. Add the onions and parsley. Transfer the cottage cheese mixture into a serving bowl and fold the caramelized onions and freshly chopped parsley. Serve immediately with chives at the top or you can cover the refrigerator to serve and relax.
